Cresselly cruise to top of table
Cresselly moved to the top of the table as they easily accounted for both Lamphey and Carew – and with just one week to go will be waiting eagerly for the final week’s results because they could force a play-off in their first season, if the results went their way as Haverfordwest A, Neyland and Whitland compete in the final week.
Game One:
Cresselly (146 for 2) beat Lamphey (41 all out)
Cresselly cruised to an easy 105 run victory as all their batsman contributed against Lamphey’s five-man fielding side. Scott Arthur (19), Neale Williams (27no), Ewan Izzard (23), Sion Jenkins (28 no), Nick Davies (16no) and Sam Harts (8no) kept the scoreboard ticking over.
Jason Oatley top scored for Lamphey with 20 before he fell to a superb catch by Izzard off Jenkins, tumbling forward at mid on and scooping the ball up inches from the floor.
Game Two:
Carew (62 for 3) lost to Cresselly (64 for 1)
Carew could only muster 62 for 3 runs from their allotted ten overs as some tight bowling by Cresselly was allied by a lack of quickly-taken singles from the Carew batsmen.
James Hinchliffe batted well for his 19 before he was also well caught by Izzard, supported by Rhys Davies (15) and Barry Evans (17), with Sam Harts picking up 2 for 11 for Cresselly.
Scott Arthur departed for six runs but Neale Williams (20no) and Izzard (15no) made sure that Carew were home and dry in 7.2 overs, assisted by 14 wides and 4 no balls as Carew were unable to maintain a good line or length.
